Blue Star Fern | Phlebodium aureum | 130mm Nursery Pot

Product Description

A fern with a little personality? Meet the Blue Star Fern! With its gorgeous blue-green foliage, wonderfully wavy fronds and slightly wild growth habit, Phlebodium aureum is anything but your average fern. Its soft, silvery-blue tones bring a lovely splash of colour and texture to your indoor jungle without needing a single flower.

Perfect for shelves, plant stands, side tables or anywhere that could use a little leafy character, the Blue Star Fern has a naturally relaxed, sprawling habit. As it grows, its long, irregularly shaped fronds reach out in all directions, creating a beautifully full and sculptural display.

And here's the good news! Unlike some of its fussier fern relatives, the Blue Star Fern is relatively forgiving. Give it bright, indirect light, a little humidity and a well-draining potting mix, and it'll happily do its thing. A fantastic choice for fern lovers, indoor plant enthusiasts and anyone looking to add something a little different to their collection.

The Details

• Botanical Name: Phlebodium aureum
• Common Name: Blue Star Fern
• Pot Size: 130mm Nursery Pot
• Plant Type: Tropical Epiphytic Fern

Light

Bright, indirect light is ideal. Tolerates moderate light but avoid harsh, direct afternoon sun, which can scorch its delicate foliage.

Watering

Allow the top layer of potting mix to dry slightly between waterings. Keep lightly moist without becoming soggy, and avoid letting the pot dry out completely for extended periods.

Feeding

Feed year-round with a diluted, balanced liquid fertiliser. Adjust the frequency to suit its growth rate, feeding less often when growth slows.

Growing

Prefers a loose, airy, well-draining potting mix and moderate to high humidity. Its creeping rhizomes naturally grow along the soil surface, so avoid burying them when repotting. Expect a spreading, slightly cascading growth habit as it matures.

Pet Friendly?

Yes! Blue Star Ferns are generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs, making them a lovely choice for pet-friendly homes.

Good to Know

Those unusual blue-green fronds are completely natural! Their colour and shape are part of what makes this fern so special.

Unlike many ferns, Blue Star Ferns have thick, creeping rhizomes that may become visible across the surface of the potting mix. These are a normal part of the plant's growth and should be left exposed.

• We photograph as many of our plants as possible; however, some listings may occasionally use supplier images.

• As plants are living things, every plant is unique and natural variations in size, colour and fullness should be expected.

• The plant you receive may not be the exact one pictured, but we'll always hand-pick a beautiful, healthy plant we'd happily display in our own home.
