The Details

• Botanical Name: Dracaena fragrans ‘Golden Heart’
• Common Name: Golden Heart Dracaena
• Pot Size: 125mm Nursery Pot
• Plant Type: Tropical Evergreen / Indoor Foliage Plant

Light

Prefers bright, indirect light to maintain its vibrant leaf colouring but will tolerate moderate indoor light. Avoid harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch the foliage. In lower light, growth may slow and the variegation can become less pronounced.

Watering

Allow the top third to half of the potting mix to dry between waterings, then water thoroughly and let excess moisture drain away. Dracaenas prefer drying out slightly rather than sitting in consistently damp soil. Reduce watering during cooler months.

Feeding

Feed throughout the year with a diluted, balanced liquid indoor plant fertiliser every 4–6 weeks during warmer months. Reduce frequency during autumn and winter when growth naturally slows.

Growing

A slow to moderate-growing tropical plant that develops a sturdy, cane-like stem as it matures. Its upright habit makes it an excellent choice for indoor spaces, while its arching foliage creates a lovely, full appearance.

Prefers warm temperatures, average household humidity and a well-draining growing medium. Our Minty Greenhouse Core Indoor Mix is a great choice when repotting.

Pet Friendly?

No. Dracaenas are toxic to cats and dogs if ingested. Keep away from curious pets.

Good to Know

Dracaenas can be sensitive to fluoride and mineral build-up in tap water, which may cause brown leaf tips. Rainwater or filtered water can be helpful if this becomes an issue.

The bright central stripes are a natural feature of this variety, with each leaf displaying its own unique pattern.
