The Details

• Botanical Name: Homalomena wallisii
• Common Name: Camouflage Plant
• Pot Size: 125mm Nursery Pot
• Plant Type: Tropical Evergreen Perennial

Light

Prefers bright, indirect light to maintain its beautiful foliage patterns and encourage healthy growth. Can tolerate moderate light, although growth may slow. Avoid harsh, direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves and cause their vibrant colouring to fade.

Watering

Keep the potting mix lightly and evenly moist, allowing the top centimetre or two to begin drying between waterings. Water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain away. Avoid letting the plant sit in water or allowing the mix to become completely dry for extended periods.

Feeding

Feed year-round with a diluted, balanced liquid fertiliser to encourage healthy foliage and steady growth. Adjust the frequency according to its growth rate, feeding less often during cooler periods when growth naturally slows.

Growing

Prefers a loose, well-draining potting mix that retains some moisture without becoming waterlogged. Warm temperatures and moderate to high humidity will help keep its foliage looking its best. Protect from cold draughts, sudden temperature changes and dry air, which can contribute to crispy leaf edges.

Pet Friendly?

No. Homalomena belongs to the Araceae family and should be considered toxic to cats, dogs and humans if chewed or ingested due to its calcium oxalate crystals. Best kept away from curious pets and little hands.

Good to Know

Those incredible camouflage markings are completely natural! Each leaf develops its own unique pattern of light and dark green, making every plant a little different from the next.

The Camouflage Plant appreciates consistency, particularly when it comes to watering, warmth and humidity. If you notice curling leaves or crispy edges, check that the potting mix isn't drying too much and that the plant is protected from cold draughts or excessively dry air.
