The Details

• Botanical Name: Peperomia sp. 'Incan Doll'
• Common Name: Incan Doll Peperomia
• Pot Size: 70mm Nursery Pot
• Plant Type: Tropical foliage houseplant

Light

Prefers bright, indirect light to maintain healthy, vibrant foliage and encourage steady growth. A position near an east-facing window or slightly back from a brighter window is ideal.

It can tolerate moderate indirect light, although growth may become slower and less compact. Avoid prolonged exposure to harsh direct sunlight, particularly during the afternoon, as this can scorch the leaves.

Watering

Allow the upper portion of the potting mix to dry between waterings, then water thoroughly until excess moisture drains from the bottom of the pot.

Like many Peperomias, Incan Doll stores some moisture in its fleshy foliage and doesn't appreciate constantly wet roots. It's generally better to let the mix dry slightly than to keep it continually damp.

During cooler periods, check the soil carefully before watering, as the plant may take longer to use the available moisture. Avoid allowing the nursery pot to sit in standing water.

Feeding

Feed year-round with a diluted, balanced liquid fertiliser to support healthy foliage and steady growth.

Peperomias aren't particularly heavy feeders, so a gentle approach works best. Adjust feeding frequency according to the plant's growth rate, reducing applications during cooler periods when growth naturally slows.

Growing

Incan Doll forms a compact, bushy plant with rounded leaves held on slender, warm-toned stalks. Its attractive foliage creates a lovely layered appearance as the plant matures.

It prefers a light, well-draining potting mix that provides good aeration around the roots while retaining a little moisture. A quality indoor potting mix amended with perlite is a suitable option.

Keep it in a warm indoor position, ideally between 18–27°C, away from cold draughts and sudden temperature changes. Average household humidity is generally suitable, although it will appreciate a little extra humidity in particularly dry environments.

Peperomias have relatively fine root systems and often prefer being slightly snug in their pots. Only repot when necessary, choosing a container just one size larger to avoid excessive moisture retention.

Pet Friendly?

Yes! Peperomias are generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs, making Incan Doll a lovely option for pet-friendly households.

As with any houseplant, it's still best to discourage pets from chewing the foliage, as consuming plant material may occasionally cause mild digestive upset.

Good to Know

The beautiful quilted texture of Incan Doll's foliage becomes more noticeable as the leaves mature. New leaves may emerge smaller and lighter in colour before gradually developing their characteristic shape and deeper green tones.

Because this is a compact variety, it's particularly well suited to smaller decorative pots and mixed indoor plant displays. Give it a little room around the foliage to maintain good airflow and show off those lovely leaves.
