If you're looking for something a little different, Rhipsalis pilocarpa is hard to beat. Better known as the Mistletoe Cactus, this unique trailing cactus naturally grows hanging from tree branches in tropical forests rather than in dry deserts.

Collection No. 24 features soft, fuzzy stems that cascade beautifully as the plant matures, creating a lush, textured display that's right at home on a shelf, plant stand or hanging basket. In spring, mature plants can reward you with delicate white flowers, followed by small ornamental berries later in the year.

Despite being a cactus, Rhipsalis loves bright, indirect light and regular watering, making it an easy-going choice for homes that are too humid for traditional desert cacti.

Light
Thrives in bright, indirect light. Outdoors, position in around 50% shade. Too much direct sun can cause the stems to become smaller and develop reddish colouring, while very low light may reduce flowering.

Watering
Keep the potting mix lightly moist throughout spring and summer while the plant is actively growing. Reduce watering during winter, allowing the mix to dry a little more between waterings to encourage flowering.

Feeding
Feed with a quality liquid fertiliser or slow-release fertiliser during spring and summer when new growth begins.

Growing
Unlike desert cacti, Rhipsalis naturally grows attached to trees in moist forests. It appreciates a free-draining potting mix, good airflow and regular watering during the growing season. If the plant becomes leggy or untidy, simply trim it back to encourage fresh, bushier growth.

Yes. Rhipsalis are generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs, although it's always best to discourage pets from chewing on any houseplant.
