Product Description

A little tropical elegance, coming right up! Meet the White Flamingo Flower, a gorgeous indoor beauty that combines lush, glossy green foliage with beautiful creamy-white blooms. With its heart-shaped leaves and elegant flowers, Anthurium andraeanum brings a fresh, sophisticated feel to your indoor jungle. And unlike a bunch of cut flowers, this leafy lovely can keep putting on a show for years to come!

Those beautiful white blooms are actually something rather clever! The glossy, heart-shaped white section is called a spathe, while the little finger-like spike in the centre, known as the spadix, holds the plant's tiny true flowers. Together, they create that unmistakable Anthurium look. Paired with its lush green foliage, it's a gorgeous combination that works beautifully in just about any indoor space.

Whether you're styling a bright living room, adding a little greenery to your workspace or looking for a thoughtful living gift, the White Flamingo Flower is a wonderful choice. With the right light, warmth and a little attention to its watering needs, this tropical beauty can reward you with beautiful blooms throughout the year. A lovely reminder that sometimes the simplest colour combinations make the biggest impression!

The Details

• Botanical Name: Anthurium andraeanum
• Common Name: White Flamingo Flower, Flamingo Lily
• Pot Size: 180mm Nursery Pot
• Plant Type: Tropical Flowering Aroid

Light

Prefers bright, indirect light to encourage healthy foliage and regular flowering. Can tolerate moderate light, although flowering may become less frequent. Avoid harsh, direct afternoon sunlight, which can scorch its glossy leaves and delicate spathes. A bright position near a window with filtered light is ideal.

Watering

Allow the top few centimetres of potting mix to begin drying between waterings. Water thoroughly, allowing excess water to drain away, and avoid leaving the pot sitting in water. Anthuriums appreciate consistent moisture but don't enjoy constantly soggy roots.

If the potting mix becomes excessively dry, leaves may begin to droop or develop brown edges. Maintaining a regular watering routine will help keep the foliage looking lush and healthy.

Feeding

Feed year-round with a diluted, balanced liquid fertiliser to support healthy foliage and encourage repeat flowering. Adjust the frequency according to its growth rate, feeding less often during cooler periods when growth naturally slows.

Avoid overfertilising, as excess salts can accumulate in the potting mix and cause browning leaf tips or damage to the roots.

Growing

Prefers a loose, chunky, well-draining aroid potting mix that allows plenty of airflow around its roots while retaining a little moisture. As a tropical plant with naturally epiphytic tendencies, it appreciates an airy growing medium rather than dense, compacted soil.

Enjoys warm temperatures and moderate to high humidity, although established plants can adapt to typical indoor conditions. Keep away from cold draughts, heaters and sudden temperature changes.

Remove spent blooms and ageing leaves with clean, sharp snips to encourage a tidy appearance and allow the plant to direct energy towards fresh growth.

Pet Friendly?

No. Anthurium andraeanum contains insoluble calcium oxalate crystals and is toxic to cats, dogs and humans if chewed or ingested. Keep away from curious pets and little hands.

Good to Know

Here's a little botanical fun fact! Those beautiful white 'flowers' aren't actually flowers at all. They're modified leaves called spathes, while the tiny true flowers grow along the central spadix. The spathes can remain attractive for several weeks, gradually changing colour as they age.

Unlike some flowering houseplants that have one main blooming season, Anthuriums can produce flowers at different times throughout the year when conditions are favourable. Plenty of indirect light, consistent warmth and appropriate feeding will help encourage repeat flowering.

Don't be surprised if the white spathes develop subtle green or cream tones as they mature. This is a natural part of the flowering cycle and adds to the unique character of each bloom.

• We photograph as many of our plants as possible; however, some listings may occasionally use supplier images.

• As plants are living things, every plant is unique and natural variations in size, colour and fullness should be expected.

• The plant you receive may not be the exact one pictured, but we'll always hand-pick a beautiful, healthy plant we'd happily display in our own home.
